Meteorological Outlook:

According to the latest update from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), foggy conditions are expected to persist during the night and morning hours in specific areas. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, as well as both east and west Rajasthan, and Bihar are likely to experience dense fog on January 5 and 6. In hilly regions, including the Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and some other northwestern states, dense fog is anticipated in isolated pockets between January 6 and 7.

Impact on Delhi:

Simultaneously, the national capital, Delhi, witnessed a significant drop in its maximum temperature by 7-8 degrees Celsius. Cold weather conditions, coupled with dense fog, shrouded the city on Thursday. The IMD noted that Delhi’s normal maximum temperature is 19.3 degrees Celsius, and the normal minimum is 6.9 degrees, both registering below the usual levels.

Challenges for Indian Railways:

The dense fog has created a cascade of challenges for Indian Railways, affecting visibility, signaling systems, and overall operational efficiency. Passengers are advised to check the status of their trains and plan accordingly, considering potential delays.
