In recent weeks, North India has found itself in the clutches of an intense and bone-chilling cold wave, exacerbated by plummeting temperatures and persistent thick fog, showing no signs of relenting. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has responded to the severity of the situation by issuing a ‘Cold Day Alert’ for various parts of Delhi, indicating the extreme nature of the prevailing weather conditions.

Latest Weather Update:

As the cold wave persists, Tuesday is expected to bring further challenges, with the looming possibility of light rains on Wednesday and Thursday. This additional precipitation could contribute to a further drop in daytime temperatures. The harsh weather has significantly disrupted transportation, causing delays in both rail and flight operations. Road travel is also being considered unsafe, particularly during the mornings and nights, due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

IMD forecasts suggest that Delhi is likely to experience light rain on both January 31 and February 1 due to the approach of a second western disturbance to the plains. Weather Forecast North East regions

Regions including Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh are expected to witness moderate rainfall or snowfall until February 3. The forecast attributes these challenging weather conditions to the influence of the approaching western disturbance, bringing precipitation to the mentioned areas during the specified time frame.
