Priyanka Panwar’s Journey:

Asim Arun, who served as the head of the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), recalled the inception of the SPOT and the unexpected entry of Priyanka Panwar into the elite unit. Initially seeking interested names from police and PAC personnel, Arun noted that a challenging test filtered only a handful of male candidates who managed to pass.

The turning point came when an Inspector informed Arun about a single woman applicant for the SPOT exam. Unsure about how to proceed, Arun decided to meet Priyanka Panwar personally. Upon their encounter, Arun discovered Priyanka’s enthusiasm and sports fitness, as she confidently expressed her ambition to become a commando, citing her background as a wrestling player.

Rectifying an Oversight:

Realizing that they had inadvertently omitted the provision for women police officers to apply for SPOT, Arun acknowledged the oversight and promptly rectified it. Priyanka Panwar was put through the rigorous testing process, and to everyone’s surprise, she not only qualified but excelled. Her success marked a pivotal moment, opening the doors for other aspiring women officers to join the elite SPOT team.

Priyanka Panwar’s Impact:

Priyanka’s exceptional performance didn’t stop at her individual success. She became a source of inspiration for other women, encouraging them to join the SPOT team and actively participate in high-risk operations. The minister proudly emphasized that the women in the SPOT team, including Priyanka, showcased unparalleled efficiency and fearlessness in their endeavors.

Minister’s Conclusion:

Asim Arun concluded his post with a powerful statement, affirming the capabilities of these trailblazing women: “And whether it is a matter of risk-taking or efficiency, Mhari chhoriyan kisi se kam hai ke (my girls are not less than anyone else).” Priyanka Panwar’s journey stands as a testament to breaking gender stereotypes in law enforcement and exemplifies the potential for women in elite security units.
