Delhi, the national capital of India, continues to experience cold wave conditions, which have intensified due to a thick layer of fog enveloping the city. The current weather scenario has significantly disrupted daily life and travel plans, with a notable impact on air and rail transport.

The city is currently witnessing a chilly atmosphere, with the minimum temperature expected to be around 8 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature for the day is projected to reach 21 degrees Celsius. The average temperature throughout the day is likely to remain close to 10 degrees Celsius. The wind is relatively mild, blowing at a speed of approximately 2.42, and is expected to move in the direction of 153 degrees with gusts reaching up to 3.15. The sun rose at 07:15 AM and is set to set at 05:46 PM. Looking ahead, the seven-day forecast predicts consistent temperatures, with daily averages hovering around 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.

Visibility Issues Due to Fog

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that visibility levels have dropped significantly due to the dense fog. At Palam Airport, visibility was a mere 100 meters at 0700 hrs IST and deteriorated to 0 meters by 0730 hrs IST. Similarly, at Safdarjung Airport, visibility was recorded at 50 meters at 0700 hrs and remained low at 0730 hrs IST. This reduction in visibility is primarily due to the thick fog covering the city.

Impact on Flights and Trains

The adverse weather conditions have led to substantial disruptions in air and rail traffic. According to reports from the news agency ANI, citing airport sources, around 30 flights scheduled to depart from Delhi have been delayed. Additionally, 17 flights have been canceled. The rail network has not been spared either, with nearly 30 trains reported to be arriving late in Delhi.
